Located right at the south entrance of the whimsical Hügelpark, Parhaus Hügel was initially built as dining location for the employees of nearby historical Villa Hügel.

Villa Hügel is an integral stop on the Route der Industriekultur - an eclectic tour along the most important and attractive industrial monuments in the Ruhr Valley. The Lake Baldeney, one of the city´s most popular recreational area, can be found right in front of the doorstep of Parkhaus Hügel. A wide array of different activities can be enjoyed there: extensive walks along the lake promenade, jogging, cycling, boat tours, sailing and surfing. The nearby sports club ETUF offers 16 outdoor and three indoor tennis courts as well as a 9-hole golf course. Two additional 18-hole golf courses can be found just a mere five kilomentres away.
