Since 2005, the subway at the main station has been illuminated in blue and white. The Essen architect Peter Brdenk has succeeded in giving the gloomy steel column construction an optical dynamic with his lighting concept. Light art that has been working for almost 20 years and also thematises the place that stands for the mobility of the future, the railway station.
