#14 Thinking Eye | Video Mapping

Silvia Isach/SÍNOCA, Spain

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was not only a great poet, but also a natural scientist searching for wholeness, whose work "Zur Farbenlehre" (On the Theory of Colours) from 1810 attracted great attention, especially in art, but also in so-called colour psychology.

The Barcelona artist Silvia Isach has created an impressive video mapping based on Goethe's thoughts on light, darkness and colour and their perception by the human eye. The play with colours and colour tones triggers subjective feelings and corresponding moods in the viewers, and the artist experiments with this. The work of art is not only something for the eyes, because in between, excerpts from Goethe's literary masterpieces are heard.

For this, she composed and combined live videos for various music projects and performed with them at national and international events and festivals. After that, she turned to videomapping. She has performed and directed many architectural mapping shows on prominent buildings in Spain, Germany, France, Japan and Saudi Arabia, as well as installations and various shows for commercial, cultural and artistic events. For their work, Sínocastudio has won first prize at Lumen Sitges 2017 (Spain), second prize at Berlin Festival of Lights 2015 (Germany) and first prize at Battle VJ of Toulouse Novela Festival 2012 (France), among others. What excites the designers and artists of Sínocastudio most about light art is to transform surfaces into something living, different and magical through the interplay of architecture, light and background concepts.
