Disco, Design, Canned Beer – a One-of-a-Kind Bike Tour
Day 1: “Beer Garden Tour”
Discover the Ruhrgebiet in all its unvarnished, down-to-earth glory – cycling from one beer garden to the next. For lunch, tuck into a currywurst with fries and a delicious little pilsner! With a bit of luck, you might even get a few unvarnished words of wisdom from local Ruhr originals thrown in for free. If you’re already in the mood, why not make a quick stop at the Fritzpatricks Irish Pub or Dampfe in Essen Borbeck? Both places serve up a hearty meal to set you up for the evening, along with delicious home-brewed beer. Before heading into the night, you should recharge your batteries. After your little break, it’s time to dive into Essen’s nightlife. For electronic music fans, there are really only two places to go: the Goethebunker in a former air-raid shelter, or PM93 in the city centre.
Day 2: A Day of Contrasts
After a night of partying, you’ll need a relaxing change of pace. Your very own little Wellnes(s)t temple is just the place. Tip: Be sure to book well in advance! Refreshed and feeling fit after a good sweat, head to the Red Dot Design Museum on the grounds of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein . Europe’s largest collection of contemporary design awaits you here, from toasters to bicycles – surprises guaranteed! Afterwards, the Kokerei is the perfect place to enjoy a hearty meal before your journey home.
