Zollverein Coking Plant
Since 2001, the Zollverein Coking Plant and the Zollverein Coal Mine’s Shaft XII complex have together formed the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein, the only World Heritage Site in the entire Ruhr area.
Like the colliery, the coking plant, built in the 1950s, impresses with its New Objectivity steel-frame architecture. Along the Zollverein Monument Trail, visitors can follow the path of coal through the authentically preserved facilities of the colliery and coking plant.
