PACT Zollverein

As a hub for contemporary dance and performance art, PACT Zollverein (Performing Arts Choreographic Centre NRW and Tanzlandschaft Ruhr) is an initiator, driving force and stage all at once.

The Waschkaue was built in 1906 as a changing and shower room for miners. In the “Weißkaue”, miners left their street clothes; in the “Schwarzkaue”, they placed their work clothes in wire baskets, which were then hoisted up to the ceiling on chains.
