Hugenpoet Castle
A fairytale castle in the heart of Essen.
Anyone wishing to stay like royalty should plan a night here. The 17th-century moated castle consists of a main building and several outbuildings. It is also home to the Michelin-starred Laurushaus restaurant. The buildings and park are listed historic monuments and still belong to the family of Prince zu Fürstenberg. In early December, the St. Nicholas Market invites visitors to do their Christmas shopping on the grounds.
