Attraction
Bonifacius Colliery
Bonifacius Colliery in Essen-Kray bears witness to Essen’s economic development around 1900. Together with Carl Colliery and Zollverein, it forms a historically cohesive series of exemplary mining complexes that document the development of the mining industry.
The surface facilities, built between 1899 and 1905 (the changing house, turbine hall, wage hall and first-aid hall), have now been fully renovated and put to modern uses. The complex offers a wide range of leisure activities and can be visited as part of a guided tour.
